In Turin, during the Men's World Championship, the draw was made to form the two initial rounds.
The Sir Safety Conad Perugia declined to take part, but Italy will still be present thanks to the two wild cards assigned to Cucine Lube Civitanova and Trentino Volley.
To contend for title there will also be: Skra Belchatow, champion team of the organizing country; Zenit Kazan, European champion team; Sada Cruzeiro, South American champion team; Khatam Ardakan, Asian champion team; Asseco Resovia and Fakel Novy Urengoy, both holding a wild card.
The first phase will take place in the cities of Radom and Resovia from 26 to 29 November. The eight teams are divided into two pools of four.
The first two classified in each pool will enter the semifinals, which will be held, as well as the finals, in Czestochowa (1 and 2 December).
